About the Role
The Mason Contractors Association of America is building the MASONRY STRONG Network, a video-first multimedia platform. We are looking for a well-rounded and collaborative Cinematographer to join our newly formed in-house studio team.
This entry-level position focuses on capturing content for the Network, including camera operation, lighting, composition, and sound. You will work closely with the Editor and other team members, maintaining your own primary responsibilities while helping with other studio-production tasks as needed.
For the right collaborative person, this position offers the opportunity for quick, exponential growth into new roles as you accomplish projects and our studio expands.
What You Will Do
Camera Operation: Set up and operate Sony cinema cameras, selecting camera settings, lenses, and camera-system configurations appropriate for each production.
Lighting & Composition: Help plan and execute lighting, framing, and composition that support the visual tone of each project.
Sound: Set up and monitor audio recording during shoots to capture clear, usable sound.
Social & Short-Form Content: Capture footage with short-form content and social media trends in mind, collaborating with the Editor and Social Media Manager on content suited to different platforms.
Post-Production Workflow: Organize and prepare recorded media for a smooth handoff into post-production.
Studio Collaboration: Contribute to production planning and assist with other studio-production tasks as needed.
What You Bring
Camera Knowledge: Hands-on familiarity with Sony cinema cameras, camera settings, lenses, and camera systems.
Production Skills: A practical understanding of lighting, composition, and sound recording.
Social Media Awareness: Familiarity with short-form content and social media trends.
Workflow Knowledge: An understanding of how footage moves from camera capture into post-production.
Education: Formal education in film, television, or a related field is preferred, not required.
Team Mindset: A collaborative spirit and the ability to work well in a small, fast-moving shop.
