STEM Career and Internship Fair!

Cal State East Bay’s Career Empowerment Center kicked off the spring semester with the campus wide STEM Career and Internship Fair.  Twenty-eight employers attend to meet over 500+ students.

Featured employers included Snowflair, Changeist, Verbal Behavior Team, and Jovie.  Students were able to learn about various non-profit and for profit organizations, while practicing their communication skills within a more professional setting. Many students mentioned being supported throughout their walk around the career fair.

CSUEB student Sabina Adaya, shared “it was a great way to see what it’s like to talk to real world employers and see what awaits you after graduation. I enjoyed being able to present myself in a school setting as a student and get an insight on how an employer would talk instead of in a formal interview. Having access to that for free and having the support from the CEC made it easier to navigate around the career fair. There are people who are willing to help and walk you through it. For example, I got a call from an employer and they made notes on my resume.”

Our employers also had a great time getting to know our students who were ready to connect with employers using their LinkedIn accounts. Lewis Guo, Co-Founder of tech company SnowFlair, shared his experience meeting with prospective hires:

“I think the majority of students are well-prepared with their resumes. I would say it was an absolutely great event..”

This was Cal State East Bay’s first STEM Career & Internship Fair.  Due to the success of the event, another STEM focused fair will be planned for next fall or spring semester.  Students interested in preparing their resume for future employer events can stop by the Career Empowerment Center or set up an appointment with a Career Coach via Handshake.
