Over 450 students seized the chance to meet with 55+ employers who attended the Cal State East Bay Career Empowerment Center’s Public Service and Business Career and Internship on March 13, 2025. The career fair featured employers like Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, DHL Supply Chain, Cintas, Enterprise Mobility, The Sherwin-Williams Group, and many more. This academic year the CEC expanded its large-scale career fairs by offering two different industry focused fairs each semester, along with a specialized event series leading up to each career fair that included the Career & Coffee Chat Series and information sessions with CEC career coaches.
Students of all majors and years were able to explore different career paths, talk to specific employers, and practice their networking skills at the event. CEC Intern and Graphic Design major, Enzo Hurley, stated, “I loved the energy that the fair gave off, from upon entering the room, you can tell there were a lot of opportunities waiting to be discovered.”
This spring’s Public Service and Business Career and Internship Fair opened up more gateways for students to discover various part-time, full-time, and internship openings. There were companies from industries in technology, healthcare, education, finance, sales, safety and more. Being able to converse with employers within these different disciplines helped students understand that their field of interest can be applied to more than one industry.
Many students reported on the post-fair survey that they felt the attending employers made them feel more at ease, allowing them to express their personalities confidently and professionally.
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Administrative Specialist, Nikki Finnestead, shared her positive insights from attending the fair.
“It was a pleasure speaking with students at the career fair and hearing about their skills, interests, and career aspirations. The event was well-organized and created a welcoming environment that encouraged connections between LLNL staff members and CSU East Bay students. I would like to express my gratitude for campus organizations like the Career Empowerment Center for their effort in coordinating such successful events!”
Students who were unable to attend the career fair are encouraged to set up their profiles in Handshake to view and RSVP to all upcoming CEC events.
The CEC will be hosting a Business and Public Service Career and Internship Fair, as well as a STEM and Healthcare Career and Internship Fair in the 2025 Fall semester. Employers, students, and alumni can keep up with all the latest updates as well by following the CEC LinkedIn and Instagram pages at Cal State East Bay, Career Empowerment Center and at csueb_careercenter.
