Ready to level up your career? CSU East Bay’s Career Empowerment Center is excited to prepare students for the professional world as they’re heading back to campus for the fall and settling in for the semester. For one on one appointments focused on meeting your career needs, you can book time slots through Handshake. Our office is located on the second floor of the Student Service and Administration Building (SSA) in room 2300 for drop ins.
“With your career, it’s never too early to start planning ahead! One little hack I’d recommend – try blocking off one hour on your calendar each week to work on career development related tasks. Whether it is working on your resume, doing outreach to professionals in your field, or conducting research on companies and job roles of interest, you’ll find yourself ahead of the game as you move closer to graduation” shared Director of the CEC, Clark Boothby.
Here are some helpful steps to get ahead:
- Sign onto Handshake with your student horizon email address and NetID
- Look through the majors available at school (if undeclared)
- Find career paths related to your major and interests
- Utilize Jobscan for resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile building
Don’t forget about the following upcoming events as well:
- CEC Healthcare Career and Internship Fair: (10/17)
- Construction Management & Civil Engineering Career Fair: (10/18)
- Graduate School Fair: (10/24)
CSU East Bay Psychology major, Caitlin Li, explained that “some people need extra guidance and might not have a clear image of their possible careers. The [Career Empowerment Center] allows them to explore those options.”
